"By the end of the project, we had a revitalised and prospect list and an excellent bank of examples and templates. The team felt upskilled and well equipped to make new approaches. As a result, we secured a multiple six figure gift towards our maternity improvement centre."

Tommy's

We worked with Caroline in early 2020 on a strategic trusts and foundations planning exercise.

Caroline undertook detailed research, helping us to identify new prospects and showing us how to present these to our board and leadership team in an engaging way. She reviewed our written proposals to ensure they were compelling and provided helpful insight on individual cultivation plans, enabling us to connect with existing trusts and major donors on a deeper level.

Working with Caroline was an absolute delight! Sadly, due to Covid, we only ever met online but she made every meeting a real pleasure. She is personable, professional, calm and insightful - with a superb ability to get the tone right in her writing.

LarkOwl in numbers.  Cool things we've done since 2019...

  • Secured 4 x multiple six and seven figure gifts from The National Lottery Community Fund, The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and a £1.9 million gift from a company looking to redistribute their profits to grassroots charities led by minoritised women.
  • Undertaken 15 strategic development projects to help charities understand their current income generation situation and create clear, well-resourced plans to them move to where they want to be.
  • Laid the foundations of major gift fundraising (including presenting to boards and undertaking connection mapping exercises) for 5 charities .
  • Delivered practical help to grow major gift programmes in 8 charities, briefing directors on ask meetings, mapping out the stages of priority relationships, identifying prospects, case testing with supporters, coaching in-house fundraisers.
  • Provided interim trust fundraising for 8 charities of varying sizes and across diverse sectors (gender justice, healthcare, armed forces, children and young people, arts, heritage and environment). Raised over £3m in total.
  • Doubled income from trusts and foundations for a local healthcare charity and raised nearly £100,000 so that another charity could transform an old cafe into a community cookery school.

WE HAVE WORKED WITH

LarkOwl_Home_Testimonials_01

"We are confident that the direction set by Tony and Caroline gives us what we need to sustain our work over the long term. Working with them was most insightful and they were a pleasure to work with."

Exeter Historic Buildings Trust

Tony and Caroline undertook a feasibility of our income generating potential.  They identified grant and other income sources and then worked through priorities with us for a further year to implement these. They also helped us to refine and articulate our offer to potential funders and partners.

Tony's mentoring of our Operations Manager gave her the tools needed to assess the viability of our activities and to make decisions accordingly. He helped us to create a new function space and showed us how to grow our network to secure bookings. Caroline helped us to secure funding for our core costs whilst we build on our commercial activities.
