Tony and Caroline undertook a feasibility of our income generating potential in 2018.
They identified grant and other income sources and then worked through priorities with us for a further year to implement these. They also helped us to refine and articulate our offer to potential funders and partners.
Tony’s mentoring of our Operations Manager gave her the tools needed to asses the viability of our activities and to make decisions accordingly. He helped us to create a new function space and showed us how to grow our network to secure bookings.
Caroline helped us to secure funding for our core costs whilst we build on our commercial activities.
We are confident that the direction set by Tony and Caroline gives us what we need to sustain our work over the long term. Working with them was most insightful and they were a pleasure to work with.
Bovey Tracey Paradiso Arts is a Community Benefit Society striving to create an arts centre in Devon.
We brought in Caroline from LarkOwl to help with our fundraising campaign. She came to us through a competitive process, with strong references and has turned out to be a very good appointment.
With her advice and assistance, we have been successful in bidding for a number of grants, raising over £230,000 in 18 months. We have been very pleased with the outcome.
Caroline herself has a particular talent for securing funding from Trusts and Foundations, and from individual donors. She is well-organised, knowledgeable and easy to work with.
Tony has also helped us with our Business Planning (which in turn helped us to secure grants from donors who had previously turned us down). Through LarkOwl’s wide-ranging network, we have also had support with PR and marketing.
We recommend Lark Owl’s services heartily!
Caroline supported the Sowenna Appeal with its Trust and Foundations programme, researching prospective supporters, building a plan of prioritised approaches, writing tailored applications and liaising with the appeal and clinical team to ensure high quality funding applications for the appeal met deadlines.
The Appeal Board have been impressed with the quality and volume of applications she produced in a very tight timeframe.
The Trust appointed Caroline just over 10 months ago with a brief with an extremely tight timescale. In that time Caroline and her team have raised over £190k from trusts and foundations towards a large scope heritage capital project. This was from a standing start!
Her work included researching prospective supporters, prioritising approaches, writing personalised cases for support and liaising directly with donors.
We have also benefited from the team’s advice and experience in other governance areas such as Gift Aid and GDPR.
This was a first (very large) step into fundraising for the Trust and we have benefited greatly and learned a great deal; our knowledge of this area has increased hugely as a result. We very much hope that working with Caroline and her team will help us to become more sustainable in the future.
Caroline ran a workshop to take a strategic overview of our community fundraising. Her report and recommendations has formed the direction of community fundraising over the coming year.
Her insight into the fundraising sector is second to none. I would recommend Caroline to any charity wanting to improve their fundraising effort.
Caroline worked with Thames Hospice leading the trust fundraising for our capital appeal to build a new hospice. She researched and identified over 130 trusts to approach including 25+ 6-figure prospects and helped to create a strong case for support. With Caroline’s support, we have secured over £2.3million in donations and pledges including 9 x six figure gifts.
She is very easy to work with and has a very strong work ethic. Caroline will always pick up the phone to make connections and grow relationships with trusts and foundations before submitting a bid to ensure we have the best possible chance of succeeding.
I would recommend Caroline’s services to non-profits, especially those embarking upon an ambitious capital appeal. Her expertise has been an essential part in making our huge project closer to being a reality.

Money Tree Fundraising
Caroline demonstrated exceptional commitment and passion when working with the Institute. She grasped the complexity of the organisation very quickly, giving us great insight into both our own practices and those of the wider sector.
Her wide knowledge of the current fundraising environment allowed her to look to new channels for funding. She is creative and intuitive in her approach, which we greatly appreciated.
We have secured two big gifts from new donors as a direct result of Caroline’s support.
She is extremely personable and an absolute pleasure to work with. We hope you will enjoy working with her as much as we do and wish you every success with your fundraising.
Caroline came to us very highly recommended. Since Caroline has joined us we now have a plan, structure, direction, and she has generated more income than she has cost us.
I had struggled to appoint a fundraiser until Caroline, from the moment that I met her, my confidence grew, although she has only spent six months with us, we will be extending her contract.
I have no hesitation in recommending Caroline.
Caroline has the skill and ability to see the bigger picture as well as focus in on the task at hand. Caroline has a natural style when communicating with donors and trusts. She is passionate about fundraising, committed, emotionally intelligent and a strong influencer. This combination of qualities results in an effective fundraising service.
In nearly eight years at the National Trust, Caroline met or exceeded her annual fundraising target without fail. She is an energised, experienced and competent Major Donor and Charitable Trust fundraiser and I very much enjoyed working alongside her over the years.
She was an instrumental part of the £13 million project to restore Castle Drogo. She was involved in early discussions, helped to create an overall fundraising plan and then led the trusts and major donor elements of the work. Over five years the campaign has raised over £7 million (including a £2.5 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant, plus several legacy gifts and major gifts). Caroline has closely stewarded our major donors and has secured repeat donations throughout the life of the project. We are confident that the legacy of this project will be a building which is watertight and still standing for future generations to enjoy and we will have a host of supportive individuals who are willing to help us with our future conservation challenges.
With Caroline’s help, we also delivered several high level cultivation events at Castle Drogo and engaged a development board to drive forwards our major gifts work. Caroline has a good understanding of how to deliver bespoke events at heritage sites where conservation standards must be adhered to. She knows how to make donors feel really special and understands the pressures faced by delivery teams on the ground.
Caroline delivered extraordinary results for our places along the South Devon coast. The relationships she has helped us to build and the increase in fundraising skills of my staff are directly attributable to her efforts and will enable a healthy stream of income for many years to come.
